Thrash has two main themes: Introspection usually related to drug use tho not always. The second is left wing political themes. This belongs in the first category. What we see is a former young person (an adult at 13) who had a very tough childhood, and learned to survive and adapt to the world by developing a kind of Armor for protection. However, the Armor also traps the person from the lyrics in their own world where they are "home". And as we know "no one gets inside". Their collective experiences have led them to be a loner, walking on edge (Walking Razor Blade) all the time, and so removed from the typical human social consciousness that they simply isolate as a both defense and because it's familiar. This song is both a lament on loneliness. |
