The Chemical Brothers – Let Forever Be Lyrics 1 year ago
Many of the important lyrics as written here are wrong. The lyric is "How does it feel like to be a Crystalline". And "Scream a symphony" A gutter might have a negative connotation and Im not sure what they mean there but a gutter doesn't have to be negative (see gutter definition). It could be a reference to "Turn off your mind relax and float downstream" (see below). People hearing crystal meth addiction are projecting your own ideas on the lyrics (which is fine), but just because its used in a movie (salton sea) 3 years after the song was released during a drug scene doesnt make it about crystal meth. It could be about anything. People saying its about meth or addiction, I feel like you are missing the point of the song. I feel like its alot more about feeling one with the universe (which could be an acid trip, or meth, or a sober person connecting with everything and just being conscious that they exist that they breathe with everything that they are a crystalline, turtles all the way down, etc etc beginning to the end to the beginning infinite and infinitesimal etc etc) As someone noted, refer to The Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows, the similarities between the two songs are undeniable. Extremely similar drumbeats (if you dont think so, talk to a drummer, Let Forever Be is just Tomorrow Never Knows with a bit more snare hits and broken beats) listen to the similarity between 00:22 - 00:30 in Let Forever Be and 00:00 - 00:11 in Tomorrow Never Knows, could be a coincidence, maybe not. The main similarity between the two is the lyrics, which convey extremely similar ideas and use alot of the same language and imagery ("let forever be"/"surrender to the void", "shine on everyone"/"it is shining...love is everyone", "sail in on the breeze"/"relax and float downstream", "breathe with everything"/"the meaning of within: it is being...love is all and love is everyone", "let forever be"/"to the end of the beginning"
The titles, alone, of each song convey extremely similar ideas "Let Forever Be" and "Tomorrow Never Knows": flow with existence and dont try to shape time, you never know what tomorrow, or forever, will bring, so leave it be. Exist now and be conscious of your "little lifetime" as a (infinitely big or infinitely small) part of a giant crystalline (repeating , symmetrical) structure (see official music video for "Let Forever Be", there are several references to the crystalline, repeating structure of our world (google "turtles all the way down" (not the song, the concept) if you havent taken LSD before or have never perceived the infinite repeating structure of the universe and all beings and that we are all a fraction and a whole of one giant/small organism/universe)
The Beatles - "Tomorrow Never Knows"
"Turn off your mind relax and float down-stream It is not dying, it is not dying Lay down all thought surrender to the void It is shining, it is shining That you may see the meaning of within It is being, it is being That love is all and love is everyone It is knowing, it is knowing That ignorance and haste may mourn the dead It is believing, it is believing But listen to the color of your dreams It is not living, it is not living Or play the game "existence" to the end Of the beginning, of the beginning Of the beginning, of the beginning Of the beginning, of the beginning Of the beginning" Source: LyricFind Songwriters: John Lennon / Paul McCartney

As someone noted, refer to The Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows, the similarities between the two songs are undeniable, even down to the drum beat, listen to 00:25-00:28 in Let Forever Be and then listen to 00:05-00:08 in Tomorrow Never Knows. The lyrics are extremely similar and convey the same idea, in my opinion:
The Beatles - "Tomorrow Never Knows
Turn off your mind relax and float down-stream
It is not dying, it is not dying
Lay down all thought surrender to the void
It is shining, it is shining
That you may see the meaning of within
It is being, it is being
That love is all and love is everyone
It is knowing, it is knowing
That ignorance and haste may mourn the dead
It is believing, it is believing
But listen to the color of your dreams
It is not living, it is not living
Or play the game "existence" to the end
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning"

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Lookin' Out My Back Door Lyrics 5 years ago
In ‘69 Creedence played
Woodstock August 16
Jersey August 17
Illinois August 19
... if this was about woodstock, wouldnt Illinois have been the tour date before woodstock, not after. They played 3 dates in the Northeast (NYC, CT, Atlantic City) before Woodstock.

“Forward troubles Illinois” is the only line i dont get. Whoever said
“It is not even funny how wrong most of you are. This song first came out in 1970, just after the Woodstock Music Festival, that which this song is about. Max Yasgur, the man upon whose farm the festival occured, is a farmer, one may therefore assume that this is the reason for the country-esque tune.”
Id like to hear where you are getting this interpretation. Sounds pretty ridiculous to me, especially that the country-esque feel of the song has something to do with Max Yasgur. Are you being serious?
He mentions Illinois twice in the song, where are you getting woodstock?
Someone mentioned the ‘68 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Would be interested to know what, if any, significance Illinois has.

@[cravinbob:32486] “The "demon" I think is there only because the Stones reputation as "devil worshipers" is too ingrained although erroneous.”
No the demon is there because thats the lyric they intentionally used, and makes perfect sense in the song. Evil eye, in my opinion, sounds kind of ridiculous to me, but hey if thats what you wanna hear go with it man. Demon life makes perfect sense and sounds perfect as well

The Jesus and Mary Chain – Just Like Honey Lyrics 6 years ago
Tonedeaf and wombo and anyone else who said hearing this in lost in translation somehow makes people less than those who heard it somewhere else, you are pathetic. How old are you? Either so old that you are simply jealous, or so young that you think that the source by which you discover a song actually matters. You clearly are amateurs at music and amateurs at life. Go troll somewhere else, you are wasting everyone elses time with you ignorance and self hate. You dont even understand the song.

Bob Dylan – Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Lyrics 6 years ago
Stoned is a word with more than one meaning, the song deliberately takes advantage of this and Dylan was obviously conscious of it. Its typical Dylan.

Traffic – Medicated Goo Lyrics 6 years ago
Medicated goo? Im not sure if the poster below was just being sarcastic im guessing he was but if not..

Freaky Freddy Frolic had some, I know
He was last seen picking green flowers in a field of snow
Get ready Freddy, they're sure to grow
Mother nature just blew it
and there's nothing really to it I know

Aunty Franny Prickett and Uncle Lou
They made some Goo
Now they really sock it to their friends
Frantic friends and neighbors charge the door
They caught a little whiff
Now they're digging it and seeking more

Its about hash. “Green flowers” etc etc

The Sugarcubes – Birthday Lyrics 6 years ago
Im surprised only one person on here mentioned an imaginary friend. Thats pretty much how I always viewed it. Or like someone else said it could be her grandfather. I see how you could take certain parts as sexual (I think touching the Raven is kind of a stretch though, and even sewing a bird in her knickers and lying in the bathtub can be innocent). Taking Bjorks explanation into account you still cant say for sure that she is being literal in this explanation, she is an artist and cannot expected to conform to society’s expectations that what she is saying is literally what she means. Even “tasteless love affair” could mean “without taste” as in without tasting, without touching, without physical contact, which is what she said anyway that “nothing ever happened”. Maybe she saw a grocer and then created an imaginary friend (she does say hes her ONLY friend) thats a 50 yr old man.
Also, bjork seems like a child at times in terms of her unique way of looking at and existing in this world, which is why it makes even more sense that regardless of the “5 year old’s” “real age”, she is five in her own mind. Thats the point of the song, in my opinion, to juxtapose the adult world and imaginary world of a child through imagery that COULD imply sexuality to some people and, in turn, highlight the difference between these two worlds (child/adult) in order to help adults remember what its like to exist in the world and the imagination of a child and see how our own “evil” interpretations are the result of us adults being constantly bombarded by sexuality on a daily basis, something the child has (hopefully) not yet experienced (or at least aware of).
