This song is heavy. I don’t think I’ll be able to properly dissect what’s going on in channy’s mind here, but I’ll share my thoughts. This is STRICTLY OPINION. I don’t dare try and speak for Channy here. I really hate to be serious, but let’s start from the beginning. 17 white chalk face - means a young girl was young and innocent What I gathered from the next three lines is something new for a young girl sparks her interest and she’ll do whatever it takes to have something exciting in her life and then.... He goes too far, no and please are not the same.... unfortunately she gets raped. She expresses interest, but as a young and naive girl is taken advantage of past what she was comfortable with. Spades, blackjack, and basketball are all games you play in jail. Letters come to prison, but there was nobody in his life to call after this. Eleven pit pulls at your door means police raided it. And now that he’s locked up he can’t abuse her anymore. She is many things after this and after people start finding out about it. To some, she is in the spotlight. To some, she is a harlot or ‘slut’. To some she is brave. The rest is a little tricky.... To me it means that she has fallen for a lot of people and has never had a proper appreciation and true deep love fully reciprocated. She has been mistreated. She has a wedding ring now and that’s her weapon. She has pure, unconditional love despite her past trauma. Incredible song. |
