I think she's talking to a younger self. The "wide-eyed girl" is her as a teenager or even as a child and she's telling this girl that, although "it will take a while to make you smile", somewhere this older and experienced version of herself is with her child version, helping her to "fall back into place". I think this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, musically and lyrically. Beach House is an amazing band that, with such simple and beautiful music, makes you think and feel so deep about life. Amazing band and amazing song. |
