Michael Mcdonald – Sweet Freedom Lyrics 1 year ago
@[skaizun:45787] Not to put too fine a point on the above, but, the lyrics support my interpretation: "Shine sweet freedom, Shine your light on me . . . You are the magic: You're right where I wanna be" Change "freedom" to "music", and it makes perfect sense. Double meanings are rife in the music world.

I always thought that "sweet freedom" referred to music, itself, as most songwriters have that special moment when they discover that special lyric and/or composition they've been searching for. Also, I've wondered why I rarely hear this at USA sports events, which would really get people up from their seats and into the game, way more than the Stones' "Start me up."

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Marrakesh Express Lyrics 2 years ago
@[tenneseejed:38125] According to Wikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marrakesh_Express#Personnel ), there is no kazoo. I couldn't hear any such thing; maybe you're confusing it with the electric guitar which starts the song.

Steve Miller Band – Fly Like An Eagle Lyrics 4 years ago
The lyrics parallel those
of another, silly, save-the-world,
pollyanna, song:

"Imagine no possessions.
I wonder if you can.
No need for greed or hunger.
A brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people sharing all the world.

You may say I'm a dreamer.
But I'm not the only one.
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one."

Let's be politically correct, here: It's about a horny schoolboy. And why is it that if a guy does it with a lot of women, he's considered a "stud," but, given the reverse, the woman is considered a "slut," "nymphomaniac," or, as you stated, "promiscuous," et al.?

Just as "Puff Daddy" mutilated Zep's "Kashmir" on SNL, and with Zep's permission and lead guitarist, Jimmy Page, playing, no less! In all such cases, the rappers either didn't understand the songs and/or thought they could bring it to a new generation by covering it their way. Some things just don't translate! And yes, rap sucks! :)

I get what you mean, but, you could make that argument about virtually any song with a strong backbeat and staccato delivery! (kids!) ;)

The "Young Frankenstein" story is probably apocryphal, especially since the joke, "Walk this way" - - "If I could walk that way I wouldn't need the talcum powder" - - has been around for decades prior to both the song and the film. According to SongFacts.com: "(Steven) Tyler, however, tells a different story regarding the inspiration for the title . . . "The song title evolved from watching The Three Stooges on TV. They walked this way and that." Not sure what that meant; possibly, the "Slowly I Turned" sketch from their "Niagara Falls" episode?
