I'll give a slightly different view. Cause, well, art is open to interpretation. My daughter got married and I used this song for her toast. I told her and her new husband to be careful that we live in a world "where what we wants is only what we want until its ours". Which is so often true. But I told them that now that they are married and "what they wanted" was finally theirs, that the hardest part is still fighting every day to keep what you have attained. I told them to say to each other when times are are tough "I won't give up, if you don't give up" - because together they will be stronger than they will be as individuals. So the song - like any other - works in many ways. |

Shockingly no one has ever attempted their perception of this song? Strange world we live in where faith is considered a bad thing...... |

I once had the pleasure of sitting with Adam for 30 minutes at an airport. He was mildly high and he said "shoot ask me any song question". I asked him to tell me something that no one knew about his song writing. He looked at me a bit shocked and said..... "hmmmmm, well every song i write has one word in it that if i change makes the meaning different". Shocked I asked for an example. This is the song he referred me to. He said that the one word was in the last verse: Waiting here for you Wanting to tell you How I line my sky with all the silver I can use Just the way you do Thought if I told you You might want to stay for just another day or two change - How I line my sky with all the silver I can use" to "How I line my sky with all the silver you can use". I asked why that word and he laughed and said, "you figure it out". Then he got a call on his phone (and ancient flip phone) and he never returned. |

I think you all missed the utter simplicity of this. The song isn't about wanting or needing or whatver. It is simply. A guy/girl who is completely in love realizes that he/she doesn't need superheros, legends, myths or to risk finding something more. He/she has exactly what they want -"something JUST LIKE this" - not something else, but something just like they have. Sometimes romance is just that simple. |
