"There is a scourge in the guise of sanctity A perpetrator with a quill" As with all Ghost songs, it's written in a Satanic context. Pretty straightforward. "Although it's Not perceived and although it’s not mystery" I thought the second line was "often steeped in well-spun mystery," referring to Biblical stories. "I am all eyes I am all ears I am the wall And I'm watching you fall" Satan's MO is "do what thou whilst," a very popular phrase in entertainment nowadays... He watches and hears everything you do. When you sin, you hit a wall, and Satan loves to watch you fall to him. "The Luddites shun the diabolical A fecal trail across the land" Luddites were a peasantry group in the Dark Ages that forbid the use of technology to accomplish tasks, fearing it would eventually take over their jobs and leave them without proper means of income. In todays' context, you can argue that many of these technologies pushed in the guise of "safety" and convenience are indeed diabolical. "A fecal trail across the land" likely refers to said Luddites either spreading their warning, or Christian missionaries spreading the word of the Gospel. "Although it Stinks, feels and looks identical A* pack of fools can take the stand" Might refer to the fools dumb enough to welcome such changes, and thus, fill the void where the Luddites abandoned the future technocracy. "Because faith. is. mine-uh." The Bible says not to believe in any strange, false, or man-made deities/idols. Only belief and trust in Jesus can show you the way to God. All other religious worship ultimately goes to Satan, consequently. Could be what they're referring to. |
