First: the video helps elaborate this but he's in black clothes (-)in an all white room (+) sitting next to an obvious tree with three branches(tree of knowledge?). He's saddened, and reflecting on scenes playing all around him as if he's watching the world from a different point of view. Now, imagine if you would for a second that we are ALL one piece of a higher being (God) and that that even includes the negative or evil he cast from heaven(Lucifer). Think of the evil in three pieces (knowledge of negative/evil, temptation represented by serpent, and evil/sin itself represented by the beast. He sent that piece of himself from heaven to earth ( in order to give us free will) for us to OBSERVE the negative, but overcome it with POSITIVE, and return to Him. Ok so now picture the positive entity as a whole (God) singing to the negative part of himself cast here to teach (that exist simply because free will exists and if there's a positive in the beginning, but not negative then the choice cannot exist...For evil will exist as long as the CHOICE of evil is existent...until the foretold end.) Picture a dance/game (back and forth) being played out on earth (the floor) over souls. Now for the lyrics: The positive entity it's singing to the negative one: I want you by my side ( God wants ALL by his side, return to oneness) So that I never feel alone again (never to be a lone individual spirit in singular form) They’ve always been so kind (his creations) But now they’ve brought you away from here (away from oneness or light, into darkness or negativity) I hope they didn’t get your mind (knowledge is key, control yourself) Your heart is too strong anyway (look in your heart, there you will find me) We need to fetch back the time(quit wasting time and figure out how to get back here) They have stolen from us( you've been going in circles, destined to repeat until you get it right, in essence stealing your own time from yOURself, till the end comes) And I want you (I want you to come back) We can bring it on the floor (but we can play the game if you seek experience) You’ve never danced like this before (we will play the +/-experience, for free will was given) We don’t talk about it (seems to be forgotten knowledge) Dancin' on do the boogie all night long (continue sinning, corrupted by darkness) Stoned in paradise, shouldn’t talk about it (oblivious in the paradise He created for you) Shouldn't talk about it (the collective conscious, General attitude, of most topicss nowadays, no-one can overcome their differences, have a discussion with opposing opinions without negativity) Coldest winter for me (coldest/dark times are coming) No sun is shining anymore (when ask the Light has gone from the world) The only thing I feel is pain (and pain/negative is all that's left behind) Caused by absence of you (positive is no longer present, he has come for his lights/followers...rapture) Suspense is controlling my mind (positive/God waiting on YOU choose using the free will provided, but who will you choose to follow? The POSITIVE or NEGATIVE?) I cannot find the way out of here (until ALL choose positive, negative is stuck here, and will always exist) I want you by my side ( we are ALL ONE) So that I never feel alone again (purpose is ONENESS...Live accordingly) Finally, Someone else stated that writer explain meaning as this: "The song is simply the expression about a feeling – the feeling when you’re missing somebody, missing a person you love, a person you want to spend time with but you can’t." Well that still fits! Like a simplified version though. WATCH IMAGINE DRAGONS BELIEVER, AND THUNDER!!!!!!!!!! APPLY THIS SAME THEME to all their videos and apply it to their songs. It FITS the song words AND the video. Also watch Portugal the man, they have this theme everywhere also (and in videos). There are more. It's everywhere. WAKE UP SHEEP! |
