When I first really listened to the lyrics (years ago now), I had three thoughts: this is about being bipolar; I am bipolar; Billy Joel must also Ben bipolar. A quick Google search confirmed that Joel has told reporters that the song is personal and is indeed about being bipolar. My psychiatrist later confirmed that I am too. I often use this song to help explain what it's like being me to people I love. It really helps. |
