Paul McCartney – Too Many People Lyrics 6 years ago
@[PaulDavidHewsoncol:25702] He has more talent because of one song? That's pretty dimwitted and shortsighted. Macca also wrote "Bip Bop" and "Mamunia", utter shitebag songs. And "How Do You Sleep" wasn't meant to 'rock'. I think "Cold Turkey" rocks better than pretty much ANY Paul solo song. Oh and that "Silly Love Songs". Aaaahhh, Macca crappa.

Elvis Presley – Jailhouse Rock Lyrics 6 years ago
@[TheMagicKingdom02:23916] First of all, it isn't 'bird' it's 'jailbird'. That's someone locked up in jail/prison. Next, why would a girl be in a prison with men? Also, Elvis didn't write it, Leiber & Stoller did. Not sure what they were thinking; probably that the general public wouldn't make anything of it. But those are some pretty suggestive lyrics.

R.E.M. – Maps And Legends Lyrics 6 years ago
@[myriadicity:21238] Nice response in general. Good points about Finster and others like him who 'see' what so many others cannot. I personally love Document. Not sure how a real fan of the earlier albums could not like it, especially the second side, which is so similar to earlier works. They didn't 'lose' me till much later, around '98 with Up.

The Clash – Straight to Hell Lyrics 6 years ago
@[J_R:20840] You're right overall, but the U.S. is NOT the hell referenced in the song, not by a long shot. Strummer meant the biblical hell, but used in the common phrase of telling someone to go to hell. That's basically how the victims in the songs are thought of, as just some sad lot.

Van Morrison – Fair Play Lyrics 7 years ago
It's not about what that nitwit pervo dave said. You're closer. It's a gorgeous song about two people talking great literature while taking in the glory of nature, which are two of Morrison's great loves. He says the place he wants to go is only one meadow's walk away, and his companion says, 'Geronimo', which colloquially means 'Let's go!'. It was originally, supposedly, like a war cry for the chief's men as they charged into battle, so it's still used sorta in that way.
