In earlier interviews, Emma and Miki sounded rather apologetic about not being able to play instruments, and about using effects to drown out their voices. There was really no need to be so humble. Even their first songs were quite brilliant.
With the song Last Night, Emma finally stands up for herself. With the recipes that she's been cooking for us, she rightfully claims her place among rock's greatest composers and guitarists. The art is not in making the guitar scream, but in making our bodies feel brand new. Emma does that better than most. |

The experience must have bruised his rock star ego. (I'm not suggesting he wasn't happy being a dad.) Eventually he worked his way through it, and understood that this is not the end. |

Most Lush songs have autobiographical elements. This one is no different.
Mike and Emma were "misfits in an environment of privilege" (according to The Guardian) until they met when they were 14. Or in their own words, from a few years before they formed Lush: "Each were isolated in their own septic tank until that glorious day when their paths crossed and they realised that their destinies were to go hand-in-hand."
