I think this song is about a guy dating a girl or vice versa who has been abused to some degree and is numb to reality in one way or another. Weather it be drugs or dissociative disorder, whoever is not able to deal with the past and is getting farther away from getting better. It could be a two way conversation him asking her Did they put down Did they push you away? Then she says Touch me now and I don't care When you take me (making Love) I'm not there. Then she says Long way down I don't think I'll make it on my own, I don't want to live in here alone. Then he says I never put you down, I never pushed you away its not suppose to be this way, Is there anything to feel is it pain that makes you real CUT me off before it kills me. (misery loves company) Drug addiction is a disease therefore he says again I never put you down I never pushed you away then the music changes like she is saying Take another piece of me Give my mind a new disease....That's how I see it. and.................................
