This is about a boy coming of age and to terms with his sexuality. (dipping his toes in) The narrator is his devil consciousness. (the angel/devil duality). The song begins with humming that alludes to slave spirituals. This seems to indicate the subject's slavery to his sexuality. The boy realizes that as a man, his desires are devilish or even twisted and evil. Even as he watches and interacts with women he must hide his wild and evil intentions and desires. He says he's after a little love, but in reality he is tempted to love by the possibility he can satisfy the monster inside of him. Briefly put, it's about devilish lust. The duality of masculine sexual desire. Having to be a chivalrous gentlemen outwardly, but a twisted wild animal inside. And more than anything, hiding that from the world. Another way this can be viewed is as an ode to kinky SDM. In that version the narrator is a Dom showing a new boy/man to the lifestyle. Without explaining in more detail than is publicly appropriate, there are a number of ways this explanation fits more readily. Though the specific details are incredibly explicit so I won't get into them. If you like this song, just know it's overtly sexual and there's no doubt that it discusses extreme lust. |
