Puscifer – Simultaneous Lyrics 7 years ago
This is a song about 3 different things going on at once, hence the title!

In one sense, it's describing a simple story about meeting a schizophrenic man who has these moments of incredible clarity, while at a punk festival.

At the same time, like all Puscifer songs, it can easily be interpreted as a sexual metaphor between these 2 characters, "I had to know more, after a couple hours we settled into it, kind of found our rhythm, going back and forth between the chaos and the focus, and all of a sudden he became startled".

The 3rd layer of this song took me a while to figure out, but is incredibly profound to me at least! It's describing what Maynard sees as God, either a dream or a vision and seeing this "beautifully insane" person who "Unapologetically chooses which pieces to focus on", just as God has no direct intervention in our world but chooses based on its will. The part that made me believe this is 100% about meeting God, is the fact that the beginning of the song the speaker describes this place as just "an island of punks and goths at a festival" but yet he goes on to call it "A raging river of multicultural art families and food", which is way more than just a punk fest and describes the nature of our world beautifully.

The best part to me, is the walkman. God has his walkman on, and we can hear what he is saying, but he doesn't hear us, he only SEES us and sees our behaviors and choices. The batteries are a metaphor for sacrifice, not exactly in a Satanic way, but the simple act of asking for batteries to help this man is what caused him (God) to give Maynard enlightenment by saying the truth of our world. That we won't make any progress until 3 people can simultaneously look eachother straight in the eye. God is basically a bisexual schizophrenic man with a cowboy hat and pink pistols, who is beautifully insane, who makes no apologies in his choices, who can't hear us but wants us to hear him, and who will give us the answers we are looking for only when we prove ourselves to be good enough people to deserve these answers. Absolutely love this song, once you realize the 3 layers of this song and its connection to God, the music that kicks in at "Well, then it's fine", so good!

Primus – Pudding Time Lyrics 8 years ago
It's a Primus version of a Pink Floyd the Wall tribute to me! Notice all the Pink Floydian theme's and song names being used, "You can't have your pudding if you don't eat your meat!", talking about MONEY, Bikes, and Pudding xD

@[FreeThinker727:23865] Well that's fucked, but pretty spot on. Definitely about a heroin dealer thinking his customers love him more than the drugs themselves, but in reality she just loves the drugs and will die a long time before loving him, hence "Now die and fucking love me" 5 times. Both the dealer and the junkie are complete strangers at the end of the day.

Slipknot – XIX Lyrics 8 years ago
I think this is partly the obvious reaction to Paul Grey's heroin overdose, but this song is for all the people/fans who have died because of drug abuse and the people they left in their wake, who feel just as dead as their friends who are gone. "With my face on the floor (Feeling dead inside over a friends death), I can't see who knocked me out of the way (because it's a ghost not a person anymore)".

I think they used XIX in the title as a way of Mirroring, showing that people who are in a world of pain from heroin abuse who overdose and die will leave more people feeling just the same type of pain, also there is some numerology to XIX being the date of Paul's overdose, but I think there might be more meaning when tied in with AOV the 3rd track.

Last year, when I was getting clean myself off heroin, this song helped me Get Up and find motivation to keep fighting, and without question when I heard "This song is for the dead" it meant for me and everyone in my scenario, cause that's exactly how heroin makes you feel inside after a while, your real self is gone your heart has been crushed over something too painful to fix, you become *convinced* life is a burden no one is enjoying so you'd be better off dead anyway, and you are just waiting to die with every shot you do. Of course nothing could be further from the truth in reality, it's the drug itself that makes you believe these things, and once it's out of your system you feel a sense of importance again. Much like Paul could've gone to a detox and then had a successful metal band to play in again, which would've likely kept him happy and satisfied with life.

I'm happy Slipknot put out an album like this which shows the destructive side of being self destructive for a change, this song being like a call to arms that we're all experiencing too much loss from drugs and it's because we are hurting inside but we have to keep moving.

Queens of the Stone Age – Go With The Flow Lyrics 9 years ago
It's about a transsexual porn star who feels like two people, the image they've sold to the world, and who they actually are. They are struggling between the two and try to be their real self, 'they're just photos after all', but they can't wash off their other half. They are losing who they are inside just to appease everyone and are becoming fine selling out as a sex object because what's "outside the frame" the world "wont remember anyway" so they just keep going with it, never knowing if people actually know who they are in their heads.
