Peter Bjorn and John – Young Folks Lyrics 9 years ago
They should have made this the theme song for Dexter

Tim Buckley – Once I Was Lyrics 9 years ago
Clearly this song seems to be about a loved one that moved on from him. He is recalling all the smiles and dreams they had together though she seems to "have forgotten". Perhaps one of the greatest love (lost love) songs of his time. Easy to relate to if you've had the pleasure of being dumped and forgotten.

The Lumineers – Ophelia Lyrics 9 years ago
I'm pretty sure the lead singer Wesley said that he didn't write this song with intended meaning, but a fan can still find meaning in it through their own personal experience right? Here we go:

"I, when I was younger; I should've known better"
When he was younger, maybe a couple years ago, he should've known better than to fall in love. What goes up must come down. He should have known the potential for heart break.

"And I can't feel no remorse, and you can't feel nothing back"
He doesn't regret his loving her for those years yet in return, she just feels nothing. Like it didn't even happen to her.

"I got a new girlfriend, he feels like he's on top"
Eventually the guy finds another girl to date, he feels like he's getting out of his depression by doing what all his friends suggest, 'move on, see other people'. He's on top, we wants to be out there and be more social or at least appear to be more social.

"And I don't feel no remorse, and you can't see pass my blinders"
He still feels no regret in loving the girl. The ex-girlfriend, however, now can't see past the things he uses to distract him from his true depression, i.e. new girlfriend, going out to bars/parties, alcohol, drugs maybe.

"O-Ophelia, you've been on my mind girl since the flood"
"O-Ophelia, heaven help a fool who falls in love"
In his drunken stupor perhaps, he's crying out to his ex that she is still consuming his mind since the flood of tears from the breakup. He wants her to come back and help him after he made the mistake of falling in love with her.

"I got a little pay check, you got big plans, you gotta move"
The pace picks up, so does his mental war. He's got some money from being able to work a lot now and he will most likely use this money on his "blinders". His ex sees this deterioration and she needs to get out of there, she can't hear about him through mutual friends anymore, she needs to take a trip elsewhere in the world.

"And I don't feel nothing at all, and you can't feel nothing small"
Now he is numb from his alcohol and drugs and his "blinders" and he can't feel anything, especially depression. His ex can't feel feel any bit of emotion for him anymore.

"Honey, I love you. That's all she wrote"
She wrote him a note, perhaps when they initially broke up, simply saying I love you. Maybe that is what's fueling his confusion and in turn, his depression.

"O-Ophelia, you've been on my mind girl like a drug"
"O-Ophelia, heaven help a fool who falls in love"
Now he cries out that she's been on his mind like the drugs he's been doing and he needs help after being a fool and falling in love with her.

(Repeat chorus)

Like I said, this is just me using this song for my own personal story but hey, if it works, it works. It makes me enjoy the song (or at least think of the song) so much more deeply.

The Lumineers – Long Way from Home Lyrics 9 years ago
This seems to be about a person who is by their dads side while he goes through a fight with cancer and chemotherapy. He is finally learning of all the intimacies in his dad's life that he hadn't known before. His dad seems to be a closed-off kind of grumpy guy (yelling at the nurse). Eventually his father dies in the battle with the disease and he's finally "home", Heaven maybe? Or with his previously deceased wife?
First-hand I know this is a horrible experience to watch your father slowly whither away from this disease. I was also lucky enough to watch him bounce back though, couldn't imagine it going the other way.

The Lumineers – White Lie Lyrics 9 years ago
To me this song is about a guy that has been telling little lies since he was a kid with "red hands" (being caught red-handed by his parents and friends).
Now he's in a relationship, still used to telling little little white lies, but they have a huge affect on the girl he's with. She wants to leave him because he's a liar, he wants her to stay and get through it with him. After all "it's just a little white lie" and if it's "all the same to you, and it's all the same to me" he says it shouldn't bother either of them but she completely disagrees and wants to leave.

The Lumineers – Don't Wanna Go Lyrics 9 years ago
I think that this song might be about a young boy/man (late teen/early twenty something) that attempts to take his own life by cutting himself. His sister comes in and discovers him him bleeding out and she's kneeling next to him and there's "blood around her". She calls for help, he's saying he's "going numb" and that he's "too young" and they are going to the hospital at the end of the first verse.

The bridge, "suits were made for men not boys" shows that she thinks of her younger brother as a boy rather than a man still. "This faith that we fake is a choice" might mean the faith in God that people fake, realizing in the end that no god would let this fate become of a young man.
The chorus line, "I don't wanna go" is the guy crying and professing he's actually not ready to go out of this world, he regrets his fateful decision. He then says, "I don't wanna see, I don't wanna be there, if it's the last time." Saying that if this is the end, he doesn't want to be in a hospital and doesn't want to his his sister completely broken.

Next his sister is with him at the hospital holding her brothers hand saying she's his "mothers stand-in". She's in a sudden panic like an addict with drugs, she's without her beloved brother. Then I think the brother might be describing his feelings when he says the moment "runs you over". The emotions that led him to his fateful decision overcame him and in a way he couldn't control them. He still doesn't want anyone to "say it's over" even though...he knows it is.

The bridge and chorus then repeat. Suits, as in the one to be buried in, were not made for boys. He cries "I don't wanna go" because he knows he is going and that he doesn't even "want to see her (his sister) if it's the last time" meaning he wants to mentally pretend like he'll see her again so he doesn't need to see her right now, especially if she's completely overcome with shock and grief.
