Written in an age before "Political Correctness" censorship...this song is obviously about a transvestite. The British slang for "bent" is homosexual. That said, the title could read Celestial--A Queen. To further illuminate--the reference to "all leather and chains" is yet another homosexual inference. And finally, when this song was written, men in drag were funny looking, hence the "laughter" that "she" inspires. Could be the singer of the song is smitten by Celestial, or had a relationship with "her," and now agonizes over it--but in the end, he says it "meant nothing." Like most of BOC songs, they are shrouded in an element of mystery. |
