Sounds like to me someone who is a serial killer and hates what he/she is doing and feels like an animal for doing so "I can't escape this hell, so many times I've tried" literally no matter how much you fight the impulse or desire it comes back and you gotta do it again you've tried again and again to stop you can't. Basically the "I can't control myself." part as if one point you're a sane person next part you have a psychotic break and feel like an animal. Imagine someone saw who you really were, the darkest side of you. Even they couldn't fix you so you just don't bother showing it. You don't want to 'believe it's the real me' you don't want to believe that's who you really are obvious. So yeah. Serial killer with killer remorse basically. You're trapped in your own cage and can't get help or tame the animal you've become. |

When I first heard this song I always thought it was about the end of your life. When you finally on your death bed you begin to remember all 'those nights' you had in your life. All the struggle, all the pain, all the things you've done, all the friends and family going away or dying. Remembering your life from childhood to adulthood to elderhood and finally to the end. All of those nights kept you alive, kept you from suicide, kept you going like a battery recharging you got right back up now here you are. Your turn to die. You will wish the feel of those nights would last as you begin to slowly die. Alot of people have had those times where they stayed up late and talked all night, may it be with a bestfriend, girlfriend/boyfriend, parent, sibling. IT KEPT YOU ALIVE! You didn't want to die you didn't want to give in. Those nights kept you going. Remember when you first starting driving? First got your car? Remember how great that night was? Enjoying the great first night driving alone? That felt great. Remember when you were so young when things got bad you were confused, do I laugh? Do I cry? You've probably asked that. But chose to laugh. During times you would stand tall with your family/friends and together you faced the most harshest things life threw at you thanks to them having your back and you having theirs you stood tall and didn't fall. Theres nothing wrong with your little group of friends, everyone is weird in their own ways. Looking back through all of that, smiling at death. You've won. You lived a full life. A great life. |

This song is about fighting a demon (YOUR DEMON) your good side trying to fight away the evil side so you dont get consumed into evil. Or fighting the possession of a demon thats trying to control you, demons are described as having sick twisted smiles and jaded eyes. In the song it appears that both sides the demon/angel(you) are talking to each other. Put it this way. In some times when you're supposed to grieve, but you don't you may have just ignored it like it was nothing "you don't cry, like you should" Thats your demonic side. You've become soulless and hardened when you would cry from loss, but you dont. That is when your demon is trying to "start a fight" that you(the angel) usually doesn't win and a majority of the time the demon forces you to do things that you dont want to do. He's "no good" and refuses to "let it go" He wont let go of you until you've finally became him, "when love dies, in the end" Thats your demon saying "When your love finally dies in the end. I win" But you refuse to become him, you're going to look deep inside yourself and find the source to his "sick twisted smile" so you can finally win a fight against him. At some points in your life he will "turn the tide" on your good thoughts and make them evil thoughts, why? Because he's "so unkind" now this next part the demon is talking and taunting you. "here we go" we're going to do it again "does it hurt?" If not the demon is going to make it so much worse. "Say goodbye, to this world" Whatever happy world you have right now. He's going to take it all away, so you may as well say goodbye "I will not be undone, come to life it gets worse" He's trying to break your will saying you cant defeat him come to me or it will get worse. However you still refuse, when the demon falls you'll be long gone. His sad pathetic life trying to force people to become him. At times your actions are the "devil in disguise" you dont want to be carried under to his level As he asks god for help he realizes he was left behind from god For the rest of your life you will always be here(like this) For the rest of your life. Fighting your inner demon. The point of the song is to encourage people to never become evil, no matter how bad it becomes Do not lose sight of who you really are. Do not let those inner demons change you. Even when it feels like god has left you behind. |

It's not about love or broken hearts or girls It's about the abandonment of god or at least "feeling" abandoned by god. The evil angel is either a sickness taking away his life or extreme agonizing pain that is killing him. When "don't leave me to die here, help me survive here" who do you think that is singing to? God. He doesn't want to die, but he cant live without help from his god. So he's begging god to help him live. Begging god to not abandon him. At the same time however he wants to be "put to sleep" from the evil angel(the overwhelming pain he experiences non-stop) He was a "believer" of god realizing there was nothing worse than having friends who you thought you could count on are actually plotting to betray you at any moment and driving a nail into your coffin making the situation worse. Still looking for the "savior" to end his pain and kill the evil angel. The friends could be the real friends he had in his life that also abandoned him, because they didn't want be around someone like this. Or the "friends" could be the angels, when one of them turned evil, thus the "evil angel that was hiding betrayal" He tries hard to get the pain and suffering to stop wanting it to "fly over me" and go haunt someone who deserves this pain because he doesn't. Just wants to live and continuing to survive. Now while he's on the verge of death he doesn't surrender. Any bit of little faith he has left hes trying to hold on to it "don't surrender" However, in the end he's asking "Why cant I breathe evil angel?" That pretty much means he just lost. He finally gave in and stopped breathing, abandoned by his god, betrayed by his friends, but never gave up. He still died wondering where was god when he needed the help? |
