Natalie Walker – Waking Dream Lyrics 9 years ago
In my case, this song has taken personal meaning. I do think it can apply to lost love but the meaning I give to this song is this:

My mom passed away a month ago and it has been the most difficult time in my life, I had never lost anybody as close before. And it is true that I keep dreaming about her.

When I see her in my dreams I do feel as if I:
I'm floating in your Heaven
In the corners of my dreams

And when I wake up, I do feel these parts of the lyrics speak directly of how I feel:

Tasting life
Numb again

When I wake up I'll forget
I'll come back to my mess

To me, this song speaks of missing someone so badly, you know you can only see them in your dreams so you don't want to wake up. When you dream about them, everything is beautiful and you feel as if you're floating. You never want to leave.
But then you have to wake up and return to your numb reality, where you will always have this person missing.

I do think this song can be related to drug addiction or just love in general.

In my point of view at least, and because I heard this song in this particular point in my life, this song to me is about a relationship that was doomed since the beginning, it just couldn't or shouldn't be.

Following the lyrics, they got closer than most and it was so intense for him that he felt as if he was drugged. He was so confused because he knew that that relationship was not ok, but he didn't know what to do.
So he pleads, just take this from me, take it away because I never had it anyway and if it goes away it will definitely be ok, but he doesn't want to be the one to make that decision.

To him this person is a star with a perfect form, meaning, he thinks regardless of everything else, that this person was perfect and warm and he wanted this person to show love without regret because they both knew it wouldn't last but he still wanted to spend all the time he could with her.

The portion about "where she died", to me is where he realizes he has to wake up and stop thinking of her as this perfect person with a perfect form. He just can't hide the truth anymore no matter how deep he wants to bury it.

So he says, all I ever wanted was your life, and to me this is: all I ever wanted was to be able to share with you as much as I could.

So to me this is him basically saying good-bye to a relationship that was not meant to be, that made him feel dosed for a while but in the end, it ended as it should.

Death Cab for Cutie – Transatlanticism Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song is about emotional distance, about feeling like you're losing your loved one, not physically but rather emotionally, like you don't feel connected anymore.
Seems to me this is about a relationship with serious problems (standing on the surface of a perforated sphere / when water filled every hole), he's trying to figure out how all this happened... Little by little they kept growing apart (when the water filled every hole / and thousands upon thousands made an ocean / making islands where no island should go).
Since the relationship was affecting the couple involved, people were actually happy they were putting some distance between them (those people were overjoyed), but he didn't see it like a good thing (I thought it less like a lake and more like a moat) and was actually quite sad that he couldn't reach her in any way as he could before (the distance is quite simply much too far for me to row / it seems farther than ever before).
In the end, he realizes he loves her still and let's her know (I need you so much closer), he keeps trying and trying to reach her, to have his love reach her, hence why he keeps saying the same line over and over, but finally he knows that it won't work if he's the only one that puts some effort so he tells her: so come on!, come on!... He needs her to take that step with him, to end the separation and do something to save their relationship. He's trying for her to show that she still cares... Come on, come on...

Anthony Hamilton – Freedom Lyrics 9 years ago
To me this song is about a person in a very difficult or destructive relationship. They know this relationship is not good for them and are afraid of facing the truth but they finally decide to move on, even though they know it will be hard to do it and they will have to leave a lot behind.
I find this song very inspirational, like motivating the person to do it, to take that step and look for the freedom or life they deserve.
It will be hard but in time they will get good things in their life.
