To me, it feels like a guy with so much defects of charecter, in love for a girl that he never had, but this love its very delicate, coz its a love based on a broken man. The music its like a man talking to his friends about this love or maybe talking to himself, in the first stanza they friends are saying that they are disapointed with him, for wasting so much time and energy with a thing that he doesnt deserve or a love that my hurt someone. Although every word his friends had said, he knows they are not seeing by his eyes, he know he is broken, he know that this action of selfish its waht he used to hate, but this love its what he "always longed for".
The second stanza he feels like a new person when in love, and the back vocal are they friends or his mind saying the true to him, that this is not going to last, that he eventually will show himself, but nothing of those words matters, coz the love he is feelling right now its so much bigger than forecasts or thoughts about the future and past mistakes.
On the third stanza, he knows this love is worth fighting for, to overcome his defects, even if he is fooling himself, even when they friends or himself call him fake, he knows if fake = love, than he is a fake person.
In the penultimate stanza, he is sayng for whoever is listining, that he knows that all this hypocryse its hard to understand, but everyone got his mistakes, and this dont deny him from love.
In the last one, he is in peace with himself, he knows this is the right direction, and all those thought lead him to feel like a new person, that will overcome his old mistakes, even when everyone think will do the same ol mistakes. |
