| The Jayhawks – It's Up to You Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
Short Interpretation: This is about someone who has too much control over their relationships, and doesn't let other people have any input. Long Interpretation: This song describes someone who pretends to be whatever they want to appear as. They act superior to others, and when something bad happens, they subconsciously are always trying to blame other people. They are somewhat spoiled, yet a lot of people like them anyway. You just want to let the person finish their drama, and then accept that you don't want them in your life. You are in a situation where you love that person, but for many reasons, you just can't deal with them anymore. This song perfectly describes a situation that most people can relate to. |

| You're a good girl, because you are an amazing writer, so don't let people bring you down so much. | |

This reminds me of feeling like I am expected to just "pick up the pieces" of my life, even when things have gone horribly. When I feel like I'm expected to be able to move on, when sometimes I'm not ready, or need some time. I think this song is also about people having to find things that they didn't even want in the first place, but that they really need. To me this song says that it is best to open your mind in life and not let people hold you back. The song is also saying there "ain't no end" to people not grasping onto what really matters most in their lives. Some of this is difficult to interpret, but my best guess is that it's also saying there really are ways to escape from what's bad, and that you should pay attention to times when you can do so. You can't do everything, but you shouldn't give up hope. I think this is also saying that people's souls can literally just be in the wrong places, at the wrong times. This is very true song! |

| @[northernwater:7831] This seems to be about seeing how crappy the world is, and feeling lucky that you're a good person and not part of the crappy world. You not someone who deserves to be in prison. | |

Short Summary:The song is talking about how people get unnecessary attention that they don't really deserve, but also how our pop culture is not really all that it's advertised to be. This is going to take forever, but if you want, this is my full interpretation: The song is saying that in pop culture, but also in personal situations, people get what they want, and be popular for short stretches. People's admirers are very visible. As an onlooker, you are distanced from that type of thing, because you're not into that sickening, temporary popularity. When someone is popular, it just seems like their name is EVERYWHERE. The part of the song that says "you winked at me as if to say I'm sorry", is probably sarcastic. It's saying that the people who are unnecessarily famous, are just SORRY for the people who SHOULD get attention, but they don't actually respect those people. The more you know these spoiled people, the less impressive they seem. The under appreciated become even more that way, as the famous are illuminated in "unholy light". It can really just be a coin toss of who gets the glory, and people sometimes start out with an equal chance for fame, but in the end, things are just NOT fair. The people with the fortune cheat their way in at times. In your WILDEST DREAMS you couldn't imagine the completely polished, perfect world some people live in, but you really don't want that for yourself, because that is just a fake life. You feel like you will never be part of this, although you are at your highest point in life. You are looking at the famous people in their shallow world, and know they are really only pretending to be happy, and they don't have freedom in life, and they are just watching the time pass before their eyes. Very true lyrics. |

| The Jayhawks – Waiting For The Sun Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| Okay, heres my summary of what this song seems to be about: Your waiting for the best part of life, you decide that it might be best to do things yourself and stay away from relationships. You aren't totally aware of the best ways to interact with people, so you end up not fixing problem with other people. You are not aware enough of other people. At the same time, other people aren't reaching out to you either. Relationship still mean a lot to you, though. You move on in life, relying a lot on other people. You remain optimistic, and start to associate with people more, but you are still a little confused. | |
