Still one of my favorite songs all these years later. So maybe its time to set the record straight about the meaning. The crux of the song is what is the king of medicine. Historically speaking that would be pathology it is the foundation of modern medicine and yes when you arrive in plastic bags its a pathologists job to do that jigsaw puzzle. The rest of the song is pretty literal then, a couple of drunken fools hatching a plot. Bad co-ordination between the two parties, ending with lots of body parts spread spread over an area. So most likely something involving explosives. Also probably historical since refrigerated slabs are used rather than ice nowadays. Additional clues lay in the two beverages mentioned. The main plotter was a scotch drinker(Scottish or English) and the other drank southern comfort(American southern states). This puts the timeline somewhere after 1850(that was then SoCo was first invented) |
