What if this song is his way of pointing out that men can be abused in a relationship just as much as a woman can be. What if he wanted to leave the relationship, every time he wanted to leave she would abuse him. This happened so often that he didn't know how to go about leaving her?
This is a shot in the dark, but it could definitely be a possibility.. |

I originally learned this song as a Girl Scout Campfire song. It was my favorite of all the selections. Very often they would ask for volunteers to lead a campfire song. I had no idea the song was a Joni Mitchell song, and I found out soon after I quit the Girl Scouts that it was a song sang by a woman in the 70's. I will definitely attempt at making it a theme song at my high school. |
