Intellectuals = people who think for themselves and not allow others to tell them how to think. When I was "born again" I looked for my deity in everything because I needed to be comforted by that thought all the time like a baby with a pacifier. The word "Lord", especially in music, has a colloquial meaning as an expression of feeling which is a style derived from Blues. The writer is from Norway, where people don't shoe-horn god-talk into every thing they say. However, the context on these lyrics do sound uncharacteristic of standard american style, so it's not surprising that people might question it. It's funny how after criticizing some made up group of "intellectuals" you then try to tell people to "stop ..looking down on other people". If you wish to use an open mind, be sure to consider other philosophies and other cultures such as Norway as well. |
