I see this more as a guy and girl that want to have a relationship but it is looked down upon or gossiped about by others. “This is why events unnerve me They find it all, a different story” They try to be together but when they are seen doing anything, they are watched and talked about by others. Then this talk spreads and becomes something other than what it was, which is exactly how gossip works. “Notice whom for wheels are turning Turn again and turn towards this time” She moves on and begins liking someone else, they get her wheels turning.. lol I don’t know. So he tries to get her attention and get her to look his way. OR It’s talking about how gossip gets people riled up and puts people in the spotlight (whoever the gossip is about) “All she asks is the strength to hold me Then again the same old story World will travel, oh so quickly Travel first and lean towards this time” She wants to be strong and be with him and not listen to what other people have to say but they end up moving on because it’s easier. So they go and experience life. “Oh, I'll break them down, no mercy shown Heaven knows, it's got to be this time Watching her, these things she said The times she cried Too frail to wake this time” He’s upset because he loves her and wants to be with her and he wants to get rid of the people that tore their relationship apart. He wants another chance to be with her but she is weak and focuses on other people’s opinions too much. “Oh I'll break them down, no mercy shown Heaven knows, it's got to be this time Avenues all lined with trees Picture me and then you start watching Watching forever Forever Watching love grow, forever Letting me know, forever” Again, he wants another chance. He’s imagining the perfect scene where she spots him and something is rekindled when they are older and don’t have to worry about other people’s opinions. Her love just keeps growing now and she loves him but he has moved on. OR She loves him and they are together with their love growing. I don’t know, I’m just saying how it makes me feel lol. Women tend to romanticize things and I might have done that with this song but that’s just my interpretation haha! |

In my opinion, this has to do with a little bit of BDSM. Not pedophilia, which is what a lot of people tend to think. In the BDSM world, there is a certain thing called DD/lg (Daddy Dom/little girl) relationship which is like a man who takes care of his "little girl" and gives her rules and punishments to help guide her to be a better person and nurture her. Just like a Daddy role. I think Lana talks about Daddy's a lot and I think she may reference the BDSM scene a lot. I agree with the song being about a director and a girl, but i don't think it's got anything to do with pedophilia like some have said. This is my song to my sweet, sweet Daddy. I think it's very cute. But I also don't pay so much attention to the meaning, more of the lyrics to my Daddy. Just my 2 cents hehe :) |
