| Iron Maiden – Hell on Earth Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
A little fun fact is that this is only the third Iron Maiden song to fade out, the two other being Stranger in a Strange Land and The Prophecy. It's a dark song. It mentions child soldiers and fighting for some God. It's a bit like a follow up to For the Greater Good of God. The chorus is simply phenomenal, and offers hope that maybe we will meet again in another life, where we can have a second chance away from this hell on earth. |

| Iron Maiden – Days of Future Past Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
Inspired by the movie Constantine starring Keanu Reeves, it's about a man who is doomed to walk the earth forever. Some of the lyrics to me seem to be inspired by the fall of Lucifer. |

| Iron Maiden – Darkest Hour Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| This is about Winston Churchill and the fight against the Nazis. The black dog mentioned in the lyrics is what Churchill called his depression. | |
| Queensrÿche – Gonna Get Close To You Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| The ultimate stalker song? Creepy and dark, but truly great. This is a great example of music and lyrics going hand in hand. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Writing On The Wall Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
Have you seen the writing on the wall? Everything must come to an end seems to be the message of the song. It's a bit reminiscent of The Book of Souls, both musically and lyrically. Empires come and go. "The dead gave us the time to live, but now our time is done" People before us worked hard to create a better future and better world, but we are leaving a mess for future generations. |

| Iron Maiden – The Man of Sorrows Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
"Like a man without a home, watching people come and go. Carry on their daily lives without a though for the ones alone." I picture someone in a hospital, all alone, maybe on their death bed. The line "as we watch our friends passing over, as they pass through the edges of time" also seems to describe someone dying. Steve Harris lost two (if I remember correctly) people close to him just before making this record, I wonder if this lyric is inspired by his personal life. It seems very emotional, more than usual for Maiden. |

| Iron Maiden – If Eternity Should Fail Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| @[matiasanzalone:27557] He didn't know he had cancer when he wrote this song. Actually this song was written before Maiden started to work on The Book of Souls, Bruce had it written for his next solo album and Steve wanted it for Maiden. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Final Frontier Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| About a astronaut in space. Stranded, awaiting death. It's basically a song about living life to the full, and the mans last thoughts on his life. The title The Final Frontier obviously refers to space, but also to death which is the final frontier in everyones life. | |
| Iron Maiden – If Eternity Should Fail Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| The title sums up the meaning of the song. Reefing a sail means making the sail smaller, so the boat will move slower or more safely in rough weather. In the song they have reached the edge of the world, and oh shit, we're gonna fall and eternity will fail, so stop the ship. No land of plenty, only devastation and despair. It's a very dark and depressing lyric. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Wicker Man Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
I recall Bruce saying in an interview this actually has a positive vibe to it. It's about grabbing your opportunitys, doing something with your life. Live for every breath. Fate points at you, so do something about it. Grab that moment when it comes. Hence "your time will come". Do things with your life, live for every second. Set the universe aflame. That's the message. |
|
| Iron Maiden – El Dorado Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| @[ricardol:5921] It's about a conman who cheats people. "The eternal lie I've told, about the pyramids of gold". He lies about gold and fortune. In the end you are screwed. "This ship of fools is sinking as the cracks begin to grow". You've been fooled, but it's too late. The ship is sinking. He got your money, and you lost. | |
| Iron Maiden – Out of the Shadows Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
It's about being born, living life and dying. First verse is birth. "Princess of the universe, your burden is the way" is the pain of birth. The child is indeed a "king for a day", pure and innocent. The line "we must endure it to live again" might hint towards reincarnation, but it's just as much getting through the pain in life so you can live life to the full again. The second verse is about dying. |
|
| Iron Maiden – The Red and the Black Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| About luck/fate. The red and the black might refer to red and black in card games. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Great Uknown Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
Could be about war or something in that vein. "Where the sons are dying. Hear their mothers crying. And the distant sound of fire begins again." Seems to be describing war. |
|
| Iron Maiden – Death or Glory Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| It's about Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen or The Red Baron's fokker Dr. I. The Red Baron said it could turn like a devil and climb like a monkey. | |
