I believe this song is about a guy that has really strong feelings for a girl but is too shy to tell her about how he feels. He wants this girl to like him more than anything else in the world. He is scared because of the way he feels and how much control she has over him. He is concerned that maybe he did something wrong and that's why she doesn't like him. This girl appears to be out of this guy's league, the girl that everyone wants. He feels as if his world would only be complete if he had her but he is just too shy to open up to her because of fear of rejection. |

This song is and will always be one of my favorite songs. I always took this song very basically until just a couple of months ago. The last lyric of the song, "I see someone..." leads me to believe that this song is about developing strong feelings for someone to the degree that you actually start to see them when you look at the stars. And thus by looking at the stars you see them and you feel closer to them and more complete (more like yourself). Having feelings someone can make you feel more complete and bring a certain optimism to a negative world where you could easily lose yourself. If you feel closer to that person by looking at the stars, it could easily be a great escape from reality. |
