I don't know if I agree with most of these analyses. It seems to me that he's talking about being in a relationship where they both have the same inherent flaws, but only he's aware of it. "And you Can bring me to my knees Again All the times That I could beg you please In vain All the times That I felt insecure For you And I leave My burdens at the door" Meaning, he's put his emotional toils by the wayside to shoulder hers. "Burdens at the door... I felt insecure for you." She's aware of his weaknesses though and can use them against him. This is why he's on his knees, begging. It's the same thing as in their song, "Right Here Waiting." "I know I've been mistaken But just give me a break And see the changes that I?ve made I've got some imperfections But how can you collect them all And throw them in my face" So, back to the Outside. Here's the chorus: "But I'm on the outside I'm looking in I can see through you See your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly You're ugly like me I can see through you See to the real you" This shows that while she knows his weakness, she can't see the true the depth of her own and neither does she acknowledge just how aware he is. "I'm on the outside... I'm looking in." He doesn't have her own defense mechanism stopping him, so he can look inside her and see her for what she really is. The versus deal with the same idea as the first: "And I taste What I could never have It was from you All those times That I cry my intentions Full of pride But I waste More time than anyone All the times That I've cried All that's wasted It's all inside And I feel all this pain Stuffed it down It's back again And I lie Here in bed All alone I can't mend" Again, he has his own deep flaws, but they are put to the curb as they both suffer for her emotional security. "But I feel Tomorrow will be okay" Self explanatory. |

Alex Da Kid explained to Billboard magazine: "It was my goal to write and produce an anthemic song that would resonate with anyone that has grown up in or been around underprivileged surroundings." "I feel too cold to live, too young to die," "Ain't no god on my streets in the heart of the jungle." Makes sense. When you grow up in suffering, cynicism and aloofness can become stronger than they would have been otherwise. |

| Core – The Angle Lyrics | 8 years ago |

"Have I ever thought of this before? Did I ever look behind the door? Have I ever tried to understand? Did I listen to the other hand?" "Why am I so blind, so narrow-minded? Why am I so dumb" "Lead me to the angle! Of your life! Let me see from there!" It sounds as if he sees himself he sees himself as someone that doesn't understand the perspective of others, either an individual or a group of people in society as a whole. With how he asked if he's "drifting with the flow" it makes it sounds like the latter; his attitudes are the same as the majority or whatever's popular and wants to see the world anew. Like, from a new "angle" if you must. |
