| Bachman-Turner Overdrive – Takin' Care of Business Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| The song seems sarcastic to me- like everyone else thinks being a musician is so easy and all you have to do is pick up a second hand guitar and instant fame will happen with no real effort. If that were true, everyone would have a music career. The truth is, it is more work than most people can even imagine to be a real musician- not a wannabe. Even very talented musicians are met with failure if they don’t have enough work ethic. Everyone else comes home from 9-5 work and vegges out in front of the tube all night and take up hobbies to kill time, while musicians work nearly every waking hour and even just walking down the street they are working out musical details in their heads. Even the story of the pizza delivery guy confirms that the band had been working their a$$es off on the demo to this song and were burned out in frustration when the answer came from an unlikely source. I think this is a song about how people generally perceive musicians’ fame as coming easy when in fact it is more work than most people are willing to do. | |
