Twenty One Pilots – Goner Lyrics 9 years ago
**First off I will say that I'm a Christian but I tried to explain it in more secular terms but it is difficult for me to. I hope I don't offend. Just a heads up if you don't want to start reading because of that.

"I'm a goner / Somebody catch my breath"

I heard from a friend that he read that Josh said that this whole album had to do with his insecurities. When he says that he's a "goner" I think he means that he's lost in his insecurities, kind of suffocating in the things people say about him that he can't change. He's basically crying out for help from anyone.

"I wanna be known by you"

This could mean he wants to be known more by the people who help him out and not who he is, because he can't get over his insecurities without help and who he is isn't who he wants to be. you could take it that it's being known by Him because it's what makes him secure, not his identity that has in the first place made him insecure. Or it could be singing to those friends who get you through those times where it seems impossible and you just feel like a goner.

"Though I'm weak / And beaten down / I'll slip away into this sound"

Even though I've got not much in me I'll slip into a state of need or reach out for help. I feel like we often think we need to do things on our own because it makes us stronger and it's harder to say you need help but he's still gonna "slip away into the sound" of crying out.

"The ghost of you is close to me / I'm inside out / You're underneath"

I honestly sorry. I don't know how else to explain it but in terms of spirituality, saying the holy ghost is close relationship-wise to him and he is vulnerable to the ghost and the ghost is underneath or in him. If anyone can explain that in more secular terms it might make more sense to more people.

"I’ve got two faces / Blurry’s the one I’m not / … / I need your help to take him out"

The first lines pretty clear, metaphorically he has two faces, he's kind of a hypocrite. One's just blurry and isn't clear, not right, and that's who he's not. He needs anyones help to get rid of the "blurry face".

"Don't let me be gone"

He's crying out to anyone to not let him just be gone, die, inside or maybe even literally suicidal.

Any other interpretations?
