Theres gotta be a russia comment :D And, since I am russian..here goes Я понимаю эту песню как описание какого-то местечка в России, где ребята, возможно, побывали. Вероятно, это деревня. Вначале идет описание русской девушки, мужчины перевязывают сено, а она расслабляется и пьет (типичное представление русских)) "I watched you walking Late in the day Where old men were talking Binding up the hay I watched you drinking Shutting your eyes and thinking Late in the day" Припев я поняла с трудом. "You were signalling with your hand Going, going out of my way You're out of my way" Возможно, это из-за моего знания английского. Затем идет описание жизни в деревне,здесь все довольно очевидно. "After several uneventful days We gathered all the faithful To come and have their say Drinking, greeting Sellers and farmers meeting" В конце автор хочет, чтобы какие-то слова не были произнесены, мб связано опять таки с девушкой. "I wish all my words were unsaid I wish all my words were unsaid If I could eat my words would I be standing here" И, наконец, призывает всех не тянуть кота за хвост и собирать зимние вещички)) Правильно, потому что зима в России суровая)) "Better hurry, don’t bide your time Better get all your winter things" And for all the english users: I interprete this song as a description of some russian village, where guys may have been. Then goes a description of a "typical" russian girl (though not all of us are drinking). I hardly understood the chorus, maybe the case is my bad english. Also, BORNintoKHAOS mentioned, that the song's based on Anna Karenina, so it may refer to the episode with the train. In the end the author wants some words to be unsaid.. it may be related to the girl, i dunno. And, finally, he asks to hurry up, to pack up winter things, cos, lol, winters in Russia are severe. Strange, that nobody noticed that part: "I wish that I could be a journey's end But you are only passing through, yeah" In my mind, what he means - is that he wanted her to be his last love, the one he would stay with until the end of his days. He wanted to be the only and the last love for her also, but she just passed through and went to another guy. Then he just says how graceful she is and wishes her good luck. It's a very good thing especially from a man. What I don't understand in this song is "Just say you'll watch how you go" Maybe the case is my bad english, can somebody explain me the meaning? How can she say, that she will watch how SHE goes? |

But I think it's more about Justin being depressed most of his life and the about how he finally found his life-mate, his wife, and she saved him from depression, from "the empty deep". Nobody commented? Ok, i'll do. Its pretty obvious that this song is about his flight to Minneapolis after his wife told him about how she had been cheating on him... Compare these lines from the interview, where he speaks about that with the lines of the song: "Once Furstenfeld got to the airport, things got even worse. “I remember getting on the airplane, but I don’t remember anything else. I supposedly walked off the plane in Minneapolis and asked for a police officer to assist me because I was going to get back onto the plane and hurt someone. I don’t remember any of that except for getting patted-down and being put into a police car. “The cop then tells me that I’m going to a state hospital. My father is a retired police office and had been on the phone with them and he explained that I wasn’t a threat. He also told them that I had bi-polar and blackout issues in the past when I had lost control of certain situations. We’re talking about my little girl asking me, ‘Where are you going? When are you coming back?’ All of those emotions blew up on the plane. So I ended up staying in the hospital for some time.” And the lines: "No joke took a breath and then awoke I was standing in an airport looking like a joke Saying "Sir, can you help me?
