This song is obviously about his break up with Zooey. The 5 is a freeway that runs from seattle to LA and I think he wrote this on his way home to seattle. I think this was about him not really fitting in to the hollywood lifestyle that she had and she really skyrocketed to fame with the New Girl. While he wanted to stay out of the spotlight, she wanted all the attention. Hence there wasn't room for two. The sun refers to LA and his home is Seattle ( where it constantly rains) |
