I always thought that the song was about someone talking to (or about) his penis. |

This song is about his ex-wife Heather Mills.
Just like the song "Riding to Vanity Fair" from his 2005 album "Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard" was also about her. |

| The Beatles – Lady Madonna Lyrics

Paul McCartney stated that he saw the cover of a "National Geographic" magazine that was titled "Mountain Madonna" which showed an Indian woman holding her many children living in poverty. He thought to himself, I wonder how she does it, how does she take care of her children. Then he does what he occasionally does, changes the title and lyrics to something more religious sounding (ie. Hey Jules to Hey Jude), so he changed it from "Mountain Madonna" to "Lady Madonna" and then...voila a hit song! |

You just have to assume that every song by the Grateful Dead from 1966 - 1972 is about LSD and this one is no exception. Robert Hunter wrote the lyrics so that even makes it more influenced from the psychedelic experience. I don't know what it means lyrically, but it is one hell of a great song. I like the "Live/Dead" version the best. |

I actually heard this song before I heard the parent song "That's It For The Other One". The lyrics just serve as an outline for the jam by Billy the drummer.
The lyrics are about an acid trip taken from the parent song. |

It sounds like he is referring to domestic squabbles and melodrama. Maybe some of the band members were fighting with their girlfriends at that time. Since the band was living together in those days, it would have really been irritating to the others for this to be going on. |

Jerry Garcia's pedal steel guitar days. He also played the instrument on CSN&Y's "Teach Your Children". He quit playing it shortly after because he thought it messed up his traditional guitar playing. |

It's about a hard workin' man...from the LP "Workingman's Dead". The narrator is workin' for the highway and drinks too much. His boss and his woman hide his liquor so he can work. His doctor wants him to quit, but his boss and his woman want him to keep working. He has a really hard life and is fed up, but there are some prostitutes that are tempting him.
That's his dilemma. |

It's about Altamont and the Dire Wolf represents the Hell's Angels. "New Speedway Boogie" from that same album is also about Altamont. |

Written in India after Paul McCartney saw two monkeys copulating in the middle of the road. He thought to himself, how come monkeys don't have the inhibitions about sex like humans do. |

This song is about a parallel universe. It connects with the metaphysical elements of human existence and existentalism. Paul must have been meditating at the time he wrote this song because he is feeling a deep connection to the universe, perhaps he is trying to contact his mother telepathically. |
