It's a song about 2 lovers who decide to go for a day out in Scarborough. They were hoping to have a go on some arcade machines and eat some greasy fish and chips. Maybe later get pissed and end up getting thrown off the dodgems. But they were horrified to discover that the chippies and fruit machines had been replaced by a few rubbish stalls, selling boring spices that they could have just bought in Tesco or Aldi. "Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme? I wanted to play Outrun and Operation Wolf! Why did you drag me here anyway?" Dismayed by the lack of entertainment and fast food options, they had an argument in the form of a canticle, beautifully realised by S&G. |

| @[NotTheTruth:29596] The airport is where the fruit is imported from. They were devastated about betraying their old friend the grocer, but got plastic surgery so that the grocer would no longer recognise them. Of course, none of their actions could hide them from the guilt that they felt .... | |

When I first heard the song, I was a kid. I thought about WWI, how there were the Germans facing the British in the trenches, and how each side felt. "I got it bad You don't know how bad I got it" and "You must be joking You don't know a thing about it" Both sides have an idealised image of life on the other side. My childhood interpretation doesn't fit with the video, but it still means something to me. |

This song is about a man or woman who loves fruit. They used to have a favorite grocery in the town, but then they found another store with cheaper prices. They feel guilty about moving their custom elsewhere, as they were friends with the old grocer. |
