Heaven and Hell exist in the song as they light their "no vacancy signs", but there are no "gates of white". The afterlife is not as it was expected to be. However, he promises to follow his love into this unknown existence, "the dark". This song speaks uncertainly about the afterlife, yet he comforts his love with the certainty that they will be together. I think he implies that that's all they really need to know about whats to come, that they'll be together. Also, this is one of the most beautiful, haunting songs I've ever heard. Just had to say. |

| To me, it's about forgiveness. You more than ready to forgive someone who is unwilling to forgive their self. You accept this person as they are and "don't want to change" them, even though you know the person is not perfect (because "love has eyes & is not blind" to the mistakes made). Also, you don't mind waiting, if the person you love needs more time to forgive themselves or mend their mistakes; you'll still love them. The part about a manger suggests the beginning of forgiveness , to me, just because that's where Jesus began his life on earth to make our forgiveness possible. That bit does seem precarious though. | |
