Many of Linkin Park's early songs were about relationships, and this is one of them. The first verse is just pointing out that time is limited and valuable. The second goes into how the subject (presumably Mike) wasted so much time and effort on a worthless relationship. It's totally clear, it's painting a stark picture of a toxic relationship where she doesn't value him, doesn't listen to him, and they fight constantly. Despite doing everything he could to save it, the relationship ended up wasted time, explaining the chorus. He gave up everything to try and make it work and ultimately, she left him with nothing but pain and a feeling of failure. It's pompous to try to read more than that into it. |

@[Liminal2:61] You sure think you're smart, don't you. At least you knew what it was you were saying. However, bringing in unrelated topics like the effects of technology was amateurish. Trying to craft this musical masterpiece into a dissertation of society's perception of the concept of time is absurd. It utterly ignores the blatant interpersonal descriptions concerning the soured relationship the second verse deals with. The song is not a repetition of the first verse, the first verse merely sets the stage for the story Mike is telling, as it should. Clearly many were fooled into trusting your formidable vocabulary, but I am afraid that spouting educated interpretations with no basis in reality will only win over the undiscerning. |

| Now that I've looked at it from some differing perspectives, I agree. I think when it says "I'm good to go for something golden ... Coasting on potential towards a wall ... I've read about the afterlife but I've never really lived" it's all pointing towards wasting time, which is why he can't sleep after wasting yet another Saturday. | |
