| I had to comment, I signed up, just to comment on this song, because reading all the comments some people keep making these weird interpretations which is their right as music is inherently meant to be subjective. But the the song is clearly about heroin. The devil came and was "chrome", because the devil was a needle, and if anyone has ever had addiction issues they know that heroin pretty much makes everything as he described here everything is perfect, and you feel like you belong for the first time in your life, and it keeps beckoning you to come back. The fact that tweedy quit drugs especially means that it would be a very personal song to write for him, as he would only quit if he was an addict in the first place. The only semi plausible one besides that meaning is the record label, which is a nice try but doesn't really fit "chrome" has nothing to do with a suit, most suits are black. Literally every lyric matches up with drug use, and is fairly specific about it, so yeah I had to say that. | |
