It might just be me but I reckon the singer is singing about a man, rather a girl. Purely because he refers to himself as Capulet and the idol as Montague, Romeo was the Montague and a man. Though the Capulet was Juliet thus a girl, the singer could be representing himself as someone who needs to be saved and perhaps admitting his own distress (not necessarily saying girls are like this, I'm referring to Juliet). He also says "Local Hero" rather than Heroine (though it could refer to both sexes), he also seems to have a lot of faith and loyalty to this person, worshiping and idolising him as opposed to being in love (though there could be romantic/sexual/etc feelings) It is a common stereotype that boys used to play with toy soldiers and the singer is claiming he will follow him like one. The part about saying "Just submit, it will hurt less" I don't think is rape, more of an attack or an abduction. The singer's frustration and desire coming out more violently now. In short, I reckon he could be singing about another man? Ahaha, just a thought! |
