To me this song is about breaking up with someone who you're still very much in love with but both of you know that the relationship can't continue because its not working for various reasons. I don't think the two people in the relationship are bitter at each other or angry I don't get that feeling listening to the lyrics. I think the line "I'm waiting for the fall" refers to the season rather than a physical fall. The colour of the leaves changing and crumbling like the relationship. Maybe the summer was the best part of their relationship and they know once Fall is done there will be winter which will be the end. It sounds like to me that by the last few lines in the song he's resigning himself to the inevitable end. I really like this song. At the same time it just makes me feel so sad because some relationships whilst they're amazing and you both work so well together just aren't meant to last once you get to a certain point. I think its probably the saddest on the album. |

@[instabil:1613] For me the most powerful line is "But I'm forever missing him". The way the song kicks off when she sings that I felt was really strong.I feel like for the entire song shes singing as if she's a third party but then with that one line I feel like she's showing you that she's singing about herself. I thought that was a very powerful bit. The whole song is so powerful though I love it :) |

I believe this song is pretty self-explanatory, I think he's saying that there is this person that he's in love with (and was previously in a relationship with) that could (for want of a better phrase) make his life better. He's afraid though because of what's happened in the past and also because he’s aware that he could be building it up in his head more than it is. He's now with someone else who just doesn't quite live up to them. He finds himself fantasising about what it would be like to be with them again however he finds that the person that he's singing about is now a faded memory that he’s been fantasised in his mind he can't get rid of. This man is just the best song writer I've heard in the past ten/fifteen years he has gotten me through some pretty tough times! So happy he's back with new material. |
