I dont know if daft punk have been in a spiritual journey or hanging out with yogis or what but i find that this song is really coherent with spiritual traditions of india and china, where the ultimate goal is deidentification from ego and elevating your consciousness. Heres my intepretation: (Dream Beyond dreams Beyond life You will find your song) The intro is telling you to experience a reality that transcends our normal perception of reality, even beyond dreams themselves. There, you will find “your song”, which I interpret as your true essence, your real self, this will make more sense later. (Before sounds to be found) This deeper reality is before sounds. I interpret “sounds” as the basic vibrational nature of the universe. Then this deeper reality is alluding to the ultimate dimension of reality, from which this reality manifests out of, therefore, before sounds. This ultimate dimension of reality is often described as timeless, spaceless, pure energy, and infinite possibilities, which we gradually get access to in the process of dissolving your ego and becoming enlightened. (Close your eyes and rise Higher still endless thrill) This part is referring to meditation. When you meditate, your awareness is suspended in a no thought state, and your consciousness rises to higher dimensions of reality. According to yogic traditions, there is no limit to how much we can elevate our consciousness. And doing this drastically changes your perception of reality, it really is an endless thrill. (To the land of love beyond love Come alive and you'll find forever watching you alive) This ultimate reality which we can perceive in a meditative state is pure energy which we humans can feel and have given the name “love”. By meditation and rising high still, you get to this state and your sense of self completely dissolves, your identification with everything you define yourself to be stops and you become pure consciousness. You become life, and you might realize how unconscious you have been your whole life. You are really alive for the first time. After that, you live your life with a higher consciousness, and you can observe “yourself” from your real self, the observer, which is timeless and silent. (You are the night you are the ocean You are the light behind the cloud You are the end and the beginning A world with time is not allowed) This part is alluding to the rupture of dualism. After elevating your consciousness, your concept of self is not your body or your personality anymore, it becomes the whole existence. There is no “here is me, and there is the ocean, there is that” but “I am the ocean” The light behind the cloud can be interpreted as the consciousness behind the world of forms, behind MAYA (world of illusions), shining through it. You are the end and the beginning is further emphasizing on your real you which we already defined as eternal, since there is no time in that dimension. (There's no such thing as competition) This part is also referring to the end of dualism; competition implies two separate entities competing. (To find a way we'll lost control) This part is alluding to our actual journey as human being towards that state. When you first de-identify from the ego, we feel like we are losing control over ourselves, you feel crazy, because the way you used to see reality has been completely shattered by your newfound higher consciousness. This is a known stage of spiritual growth called the dark night of the soul, where the spiritual seeker has been able to see through the world of illusion enough to recognize it as an illusion, but not enough to completely break through it. This causes a lot of confusion and a sense of being lost. The thing is, in order to really break through and find the way, you have to go through this, and make uncertainty your new home Remember love's our only mission This is the journey of the soul (This reminder is talking to the person that has lost control and is trying to find their way, the way is love, to get to that ultimate reality is to fulfill your ultimate potential, your mission as a human being, that is the journey of the soul) The perfect song is framed with silence It speaks of places never seen (The perfect song is to have a perfect experience of the now, which is only achieved with the silencing of the mind and the dissolution of the ego. Then, each moment is absolutely unique and magical, since you are not experiencing life through mental structures, but through a direct relationship with the now and therefore with existence.) Your home´s a promise long forgotten (Your home is in that deeper reality, and it has been promised to us and long forgotten. This can be interpreted as the promise of salvation religions always talks about, but it has been forgotten since these religions are usually counterproductive and keep people in the world of forms and thoughts, and almost never help them transcend. It is the birthplace of your dreams That deeper reality is the place where this reality manifests out of, it is the birthplace of our dreams. Dreams here can be interpreted either as well, the dreams we have at night, which are a part of this reality, but also as the illusive nature of this reality |
