Who decreed these the official lyrics? Googling yields the same lyrics all over the internet, but I hear something different to what is written. Where it says: "He's trying to show me / Who's alive in both cities / Barely on fire" I hear the following instead: "He's trying to show me / It was a lightning bolt / that set his belly on fire." Anyways, I always assumed this song was an application of the Prometheus myth. Prometheus stole the fire from Zeus (hence "lightning bolt that set his belly on fire") and then was subject to a giant eagle that pecked his liver for eternity (hence the "dreams of a bird of a terrifying size" and "death cold, pecked bare"). Also, Prometheus was strung up to a rock in the same way as a scarecrow might be, and obviously served as a deterrent to those who dared to fight for humanity even against the wishes of people in power. If this song truly is about Finn's brother, would this explanation relate to him? |
