| St. Lucia – Before The Dive Lyrics | 11 years ago |

The song is about a gay couple "sinners of the night" of people that are currently in the closet. The dive is coming out to their community leaving everything they know behind by announcing their love to their community. The beginning of the song was saying: "You will never accept us for the couple we are, and details some of the ridicule and mocking they had faced." The actual song is singers reminiscing on a moment of how they felt before they took the dive, hence the title of this song. Additionally, they tried to reconcile with their relevent authorities before the dive because they talk to the master, but they get a denied from him on their love and they choose to come out anyway, leaving everything they know behind for the dive. The song is not about prostitutes I don;t even understand how you could think that the lyrics are like literally not what. The actual video is a statement on that very same oppression between two loves being repressed and having to hide their true selves for issues be they gay or straight and just happened to use a woman to do so. The reason he chose to use a woman was because it kept the spirit of the issue in tact but he avoided it from being simplified as a simple "LGBTQ" rights statement and more of a statement on oppressions of love of all people. Its actually a pretty fuckin kitschy song thinking about it, but I guess I can support like not oppressing people. |
