Wow, compelling song from the beginning; then an interesting surprise in the last verse when we learn the song's about MLK -- now I really find myself thinking about the meaning behind the interesting imagery. This is a nice lyric about someone who's been gone so long but so relevant and impactful 40+ years later: - You've been a long time gone, good to see you my old friend But why does he say: - I would sleep if you could drive, I just can't keep my mind alive - with shaking hands I rub my eyes, free of all my alibis Gotta say -- I really like listening to the Turnpike Troubadours. |
