Lorde – Tennis Court Lyrics 11 years ago
This is about the music industry.

Don't you think that it's boring how people talk
Making smart with their words again, well I'm bored:
She's tired of how the media always talks about fame and fortune, like in Royals.

Because I'm doing this for the thrill of it, killin' it
Never not chasing a million things I want
And I am only as young as the minute is full of it
Getting pumped up from the little bright things I bought
But I know they'll never own me (Yeah):
She can be happy with all the money she has but when she has everything she wants, there's really no point. But she knows that she won't get obssesed with fame and money, she only does this for the actual singing, not the money. Also, she doesn't want diamonds or anything like that.

Baby be the class clown
I'll be the beauty queen in tears
It's a new art form showing people how little we care (Yeah)
We're so happy, even when we're smilin' out of fear
Let's go down to the tennis court, and talk it up like yeah (Yeah):
She's trying to tell us that this is the perspective of a popular high school girl.

Pretty soon I'll be getting on my first plane
I'll see the veins of my city like they do in space:
Fun fact, Lorde actually didn't get on a plane until she was famous. lol, and neither have I, well at least since I was 3 years old.

But my head's filling up with the wicked games, up in flames
How can I fuck with the fun again, when I'm known:
Once you're famous, there's no turning back, and being a famous singer rarely gives you any time to have fun.

And my boys trip me up with their heads again, loving them
Everything's cool when we're all in line, for the throne
But I know it's not forever (Yeah):
There's a competition in the music business for the top 2 spots: You see, it's basically a male and a female pop star that are basically king and queen of pop. Michael Jackson and Madonna filled these spots in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. But since Michael's death in 2009 and unless Madonna's thirteenth album is going to be good, it will fail Madonna's career. So basically we wait for Madonna's thirteenth album. If it is a flop then Madonna isn't the queen anymore. I know that they are both legendary and unreplacable. But look. Michael Jackson is still the king of pop since his company is releasing more albums. So MJ's still the queen and Madonna might still be the queen if her album isn't a flop. The point is, the next competitors for queen of pop would probably be Katy Perry and Lorde and maybe someone else might come along. They all know that fame will only get them that far and then after their climax, if they're lucky enough they might have more popularity, just not as much as the climax. And if they're unlucky, they will immediatly drop. Luckily for Katy Perry we can say her climax was Teenage Dream, but who knows - her next album could someone be bigger. Her first album OOTB was a semi-hit, TD was a huge success and Prism was very successful, but still not as succesful as TD. With Lorde, it looks like PH was just where it all started. PH was probably just a little less successful than Prism, so there's a huge chance her second album will be a huge hit. This happened with legends like Katy Perry (with Teenage Dream), Madonna (with Like a Virgin) and TECHNICALLY Michael Jackson (with Thriller, like I said technically). However for Madonna this wasn't her climax, as her climax was Like a Prayer. However LAV was extremely close. But we all know that all four of these peoples' first albums were moderate hits so...yeah, I just wrote like three paragraphs explaining this...

It looked alright in the pictures (Yeah)
Many singers start out being famous by imagining all the fame and fortune that the media displays.

Getting caught soft with the triple is it:
I seriously have no idea what this means....

I fall apart, with all my heart:
She realized fame isn't what it seems.

And you can watch from your window
And you can watch from your window:
At least 97% percent of singers' careers are destroyed for some stupid window, we all see this happen. Hopefully Lorde won't be one of them.

It's about falling in love with a dude who is amazing...and different. This is really obvious

Katy Perry – Wide Awake Lyrics 11 years ago
This song IMO is about a person that is in love with another person....and they think that the other person likes them. Then all of a sudden the other person reveals to you that they do not love you. That's why it's "I'm wide awake...yeah I was in the dark...I was FALLING HARD WITH AN OPEN HEART...HOW DID I READ THE STARS SO WRONG/FALLING FROM CLOUD NINE CRASHING FROM THE HIGH I'M LETTING GO TONIGHT/GOD KNOWS THAT I TRIED SEEING THE BRIGHT SIDE" because "cloud nine" means she was obviously happy since she thought she had a chance with him. I had the same experience so yah

Madonna – Frozen Lyrics 11 years ago
Frozen is about a lover being Satan in disguise. The singer has fallen into this lover's trap like a bug in a spider web, and so trying to get out of it only makes the singer deeper in love. Now you are addicted to Satan. You cry because of this lover and the lover doesn't even notice you much. How would you feel? You want to just take control of your lover and make them fall in love with you, at the same time you don't want forced love and it won't work anyway. "You're frozen when your heart's not open...." it's a reference to Open Your Heart, except this time you have little confidence and all you want now is the person. I'm almost in the same situation and so...I know how it feels.

Madonna – Bedtime Story Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is about sleep. Usually when you sleep, you're unconscious. Also, I think she never says "Bedtime Story" because you don't remember your dreams.

This meaning actually fits the song perfectly....I mean, I know it's not why she wrote it, but still....

Madonna – Candy Shop Lyrics 11 years ago
I used to think she was actually singing about candy when she was younger, but nowadays I'm knowledgeable about sex and.....well...it kinda ruins your childhood..... "sticky and sweet" and "lollipop" are dead giveaways.

When I was younger I always thought this song was about time travel......but then again, I was young.

Madonna – Bad Girl Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about smoking addiction. Not only the chorus, but other parts of the song, ex. "Can't bring myself to let you go/I fall apart each time you hand your heart out to me/Is it me or you that I'm afraid of". The line "I tell myself I'll show you what I made of" indicates trying to overcome the addiction.
