I've always thought this song felt like finding my way to a ceilidh at a little known place in the middle of a forest filled with wildcats. |

It's almost as if he knew he was going to die, putting out the video for this only a few days before his death. Damn, he was something else. |

@[liv85:5145] I know this was over a decade ago, but your thinking makes me consider the quote of Zhuangzi, "Once upon a time, I, Chuang Chou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Chou. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man." |

At times it seems to be about the weird emotional/emotionless state a breakup can bring about. Other times it seems to take on an almost sci-fi edge, coming from some AI in a humanoid body who had a bad experience.
Part of me thinks it might be about someone who is generally emotionally detached trying to sort out being in love and eventual rejection. |

It's always been, to me, the most accurate representation of how someone feels after being dumped. It's the purest feeling of having something taken, and with the line, "I've lost a lover/and I am certain/I'll get another/so why am I hurting?" it's cemented that it's about a breakup. |
