Alesana – As You Wish Lyrics 11 years ago
So funny that you said that. I was reading Twilight when I first discovered Alesana (about 5 years ago). I hadn't listened to this song in ages, but I realized tonight that it reminds me of Twilight. Somewhat embarrassing now. :)

The Fray – Vienna Lyrics 11 years ago
The first part makes me think of two people who are together, but one is about to leave. And they're pretending everything will be fine ("We smile for the casual closure capturing")-someone takes a picture of them and they smile, arms around each other, but it's forced. They know this is the end. This is goodbye.
They might call each other at first (This is my hello, this is my goodness), but it's just that-the "good" in each one of them, not wanting to be the one to break the other's heart. They know what's happening, they just can't be honest with each other about it. So everything is just going to end slowly, with fewer and fewer phone calls, until there aren't any at all.
"Maybe then honesty need not be feared as a friend or an enemy"-Maybe they'll meet up years later, when their feelings are numb or just gone. Then they can speak freely without worrying about trying to keep the other person as a friend or making them an enemy.
Maverick means "an unorthodox or independent-minded person."

Radical Face – The Dead Waltz Lyrics 11 years ago
I can't believe there aren't any comments for this yet!
Such a beautiful song. I hate that it took me so long to discover this album-I was stuck on "Ghost" for a long time.
I love the last part-

"don't you mind, don't you mind
she'll be fine
tie a bell around her ankle
before she lays down at night
and the sound of her footsteps
will wake me in time
don't you mind, don't you mind
I'll watch over her
as though she were mine"

One of my favorites on this album, besides "Always Gold" and "Ghost Towns".

Blue October – Sweet And Somber Pigeon Wings Lyrics 11 years ago
In my humble opinion, "The Answers" is Blue October's best album yet. Every song is so deep and beautiful. Justin's writing is really amazing.

This song is one of my favorites off the album, mainly for the last few lines:

Open your eyes... a new song 'cuz the family's wrong,
So don't lecture me.
But as far as I can see,
the stepmom, yeah the widow's palm is what's
crushing me,
and this family.
It's beyond my time
It's beyond my time.

My dad remarried when I first started high school, and she was horrible to me and my younger brother. It seemed like everyone was "lecturing" us on how to get along better with her, but she seemed hellbent on dividing out family.

"It's beyond my time" makes me think of being a kid and not having control over certain circumstances that happen to you. Like the phrase "it's beyond me", which basically means, "it's beyond my understanding" , our family members sometimes do things that don't make any sense. Maybe they don't realize how much it affects other people in the family, especially younger ones who can't fully make decisions for themselves.

Anyway, this is one of the most beautifully written songs I know (besides Blue Sunshine). It really stirs up painful memories for me, but I love listening to it. I've said it before, but Justin is such an amazing writer.

Blue October – The Answer Lyrics 11 years ago
One of my favorite Blue October songs (it seems like most of my favorite songs are from Blue October anyway).

I love the lines: "There's Zoloft, Welbutrin, there's Paxil that's proven,
no side effects."

As someone who has recently been put on Welbutrin, I can definitely identify with his sarcasm when he talks about there being "no side effects". I have dizzy spells and nausea constantly, plus the "rules" you need to follow when on that type of drug (taking it the same time everyday, avoiding alcohol, etc.) Some days it feels like I'd just be better off dealing with depression and my own "post traumatic thing".

I especially love the lyrics,
"You've got to suck it up.
You're not her buttercupp,
you're not her favorite book."

It reminded me of a painful break-up I went through, and how I had to learn that I wasn't his favorite person anymore. He didn't want to read me again, so to speak.
Overall, a great song from a great band.
