| Lawrence Greenwood – P. S. I'm Haunted Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[RBLIL:22676] Me too. Excited to receive the vinyl. | |
| Conor Oberst – Barbary Coast (Later) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[NathanWestwood:18721] ok, maybe I am wrong. :) probably | |
| Conor Oberst – Barbary Coast (Later) Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| Also, it's not "John Muir" (whoever that is...) but "Joan Miró" also a painter. | |
| Gillian Welch – Everything Is Free Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| The real take-away from this song is actually not about music or money. It's about Art and the concept of what that actually is. Is Art the product or the production? Is Art the tangible end-thing or is it the process? Artists who are immersed in their Art don't actually consider the finished piece. People buy and sell this "piece" but the actual Art, to me anyway, can never be bought or sold. It lies in the process of the work. The experience that the artist earns during the creation of work can never be owned by anyone else. I'm gonna do it anyway. | |
| Mason Jennings – Rebecca DeVille Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| This song isn't really about dream; it's about dreaming about if a dream is real or if it's not...dream inside of a dream. Lucid dreaming. Maybe memories of real life or another life in a dream. But it's not "a dream". Get it? | |
| Mason Jennings – Jesus Are You Real Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| This song really isn't about God or Jesus but he's using that platform as a jumping off place to begin a literary dialog. Didn't you people go to high school? | |
| Television – Venus de Milo Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| Easily one of the best love songs ever written. | |
| Pedro the Lion – The Longer I Lay Here Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
It's funny how lyrics here get so horribly distorted and then never appended. Here's the real lyrics: You're up with the sunrise And down when the works been done With excellence, industry, diligence, naturally I would like to be you just for a few habit-forming years laziness cuts me like fine cutlery I need a miracle, someone to help me, help myself Sweet Jesus, I need you Forgive me this sin Not hookers or heron, gambling or gin It sounds so ridiculous but I just can't lick this I need a miracle, someone to help me, help myself Someone to help me, help myself |

| Joanna Newsom – The Things I Say Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
This is my favorite song on the record. Just so simple and beautiful. Pretty much a perfect song. |
|
| Ruru – I Want You on Vinyl Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| Now that I've heard it many times, I think "Sidewalk" is actually "Side One" which makes more sense in context. | |
| Jenny Lewis – Slippery Slopes Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I mean "Slipping with brows"? What? What do you think that even means? Use logic. | |
| Jenny Lewis – Slippery Slopes Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| Man, where to start. Whoever is submitting these Jenny Lewis lyrics is really missing the boat big time. So many mistakes...and really obvious stuff. Listen! | |
| Jenny Lewis – The New You Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
Many mistakes here... "I knew you'd be leavin' me soon" "Dreams of notoriety..." "Headbanger's Ball" Just listen to the song some more next time before attempting the lyrics. Lol |
|
| David Bazan – Oblivion Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I think it may be "on a six week SOLO drive", possibly referring to David's frequent solo house tour shows. | |
| Pedro the Lion – When They Really Get to Know You They Will Run Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
Last part of the lyric is really: "Winter legs give me heart attacks, so take it off with lazers so it never comes back" |
|
| Elliott Smith – Blue Mood Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
"A joke is not my speciality, confusion makes most sense to me" supposedly about his weird sense of humor...he was a documented jokester and loved the absurd. "But you're just talking out your ass, I'm just gonna let that pass" is what I think he really says and it's pretty self explanatory. This is one of his unrecorded masterpieces. I doubt it was finished and I doubt he was totally happy with these lyrics. |
|
| Elliott Smith – We're All Friends Now Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| It's "bodies" not "buddies". This song is rumored to be about NIN singer Trent Reznor ("I'd rather die than give you control" from Head Like A Hole) and how he sold out etc. | |
| Mary Lou Lord – Shake Sugaree Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| This song was written by Elizabeth Cotten in 1966. | |
| Heatmiser – Plainclothes Man Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| It's "European Son" and it is "Serious with everyone." Fo sho. | |
| Galaxie 500 – Victory Garden Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This is a Red Krayola song written by Steve Cunningham, Mayo Thompson. | |
| Galaxie 500 – Fourth Of July Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This song was written by Dean Wareham not Peter Keith Droge. Totally different song. All the Galaxie songs here are credited to the wrong songwriters. Maybe some kind of ironic joke? | |
| Galaxie 500 – Oblivious Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Oblivious by Roddy Frame is a totally different song. This song was written by Dean Wareham. | |
| Yo La Tengo – Griselda Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
Pretty close but a few errors. "Slip into the wood in the dark of the night" "Watching the fish jump in the lake" "Moonflower vine upon the window, give me a foothold for my climbing" "Fish are out and oh, the sun is shining" |
|
| The Silver Jews – How to Rent a Room Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| It's "An Anchor", I have the LP with the lyric sheet. This is one of my favorite DC Berman songs. What I get from this song, it's kind of about a botched suicide attempt, but then maybe the death really did happen. Maybe the narrative is coming from a ghost perspective. I don't know. Great song though. | |
| Jenny Lewis – The Voyager Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This is a great song. Really awesome to hear Jenny again (Acid Tongue being a departure of the good, imoho). But yeah, the Voyager is in all of us. We all have the potential to "get out of this world" and we all will eventually. But I think this song is concerned with life also; more specifically the quality of life. Life is the journey, the voyage. Nice space imagery fits the context and interstellar recording as well. | |
| Elliott Smith – All Cleaned Out Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
It's "with the FRONT he's throwing down..." and "there ain't nothing to DRINK..." and "STUNG" is correct also. |
|
| Des Ark – The Subtleties Of Chores & Unlocked Doors Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
"If we could settle for friends who hang around" is actually... "If we could settle for friends who ain't around" |
|
| Des Ark – The Subtleties Of Chores & Unlocked Doors Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
"Long ended" should be... "On the other end of all my long winded letters" |
|
| Isaac Russell – Elizabeth Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I heard this was a song concerning the sickness and eventual death of Isaac's mother who passed of cancer. Pretty harrowing and beautiful and sophisticated for a young man. Beautiful writing. | |
