I believe the over all mood for this album is how nostalgia affects Mark. He's remembering the days of youth he spent at this park and how things are in the present. He briefly associates this emotion with a failed relationship, but it's not the point of the song. The closing lyrics explain how he is caught in the emotional essence of the park. In an abstract way, he is wondering why the park makes him feel so nostalgic and emotional. He wonders if the remains of the park causes anyone else to feel like that.

I feel most of this album deals with romantic nostalgia. I believe this song is about a lover sharing a simple, intimate childhood memory of chasing dragonflies. The present day is dark and cold, so Mark is feeling nostalgic through her warm anecdote. She didn't think it was that important to share, but to Mark, it means a lot in the moment.. "This is the first you spoke of it"

I consider myself an irreligious person and don't really care for talk of God. Whenever Doug mentions "god" it comes off as though he simply wants to believe in something. He breaks the concept down into a meaning of just being good and hoping for something.

The first part invokes feelings of being jaded about where you are and how your life is going. The chorus is basically saying, "The powers that be have took all the inspiration away." "It's alright, now that I'm getting over...getting mine" is basically that apathetic feeling turning into acceptance. The second part of the song is saying that even though your life didn't turn out how you wanted it, you're still important to the people that are close to you.

"A bad idea gone funny" is actually a really moving lyric to me. It implies that you have someone who persistently does something over and over, not realizing it's a bad idea. Everyone else notices, but doesn't do anything to help that person.

I feel the general theme of this album revolves around trying to be a good person. The first track presents the idea of wanting to lead a good, virtuous life. The second track goes into discussing that he can't kid himself and that his inner demons/ disposition prevents him from being good. "I would hurt a fly" in this case means, "I'm still capable of doing wrong and there's nothing I can do to control it"
