This song is personal too me. Very much so. To me its saying that this man left this girl, broke up with her, moved on. And while he is having fun doing his thing he misses her, he is lonely without her, hurts without her and can't imagine her with anyone else. He needs her, he would do anything for her, HAS been doing everything for her he thinks. He hopes she is still that innocent girl he loves and not tarnished by his love or any others. He has realizes he made a huge mistake by letter her go and he can not see it any other way but for them to be together. He would do anything for her. He needs her, not just wants her he is physically hurting without her by his side. All this time not knowing how she thinks, feels or what she wants. It's a beautiful song with happiness and pain in it. It feels like he wrote if for a situation I went through in my life, it hit home like no other song had before. And in the end you still don't know. Did she go back, and hold him and kiss them like they used to, like he wanted her to, or was she gone forever, never able to love him, want him or need him that way again? Maybe I looked to deep, but it's beautiful and I love it and it, in a way, changed my life. Helped me get on with life. Music is powerful. At the end of the song all you can hope for is good luck. |

To me, the meaning is simple and something all of us do on the daily and should learn from. We have something great and amazing and worthwhile and exactly what we want and need, but as human nature has it we get bored and want more, something different exiting new...or so we thought. So we toss it to the side, forget about it, stop giving that thing/person our love. Stop nurturing it. And its then that we realize, usually too late, that what we had was exactly perfect, everything we wanted. This song can be used in any aspect of our lives. You only realize how beautiful you had it after you destroy it and make it not beautiful. Take for granted what we had. Life, friends, career, feelings, the damn weather, frickin anything. Think the grass is greener on the other side. Oops. Passenger wrote a great message and lesson. I think we should all take it to heart and look around and see how amazingly beautiful things might be. Namaste. |

It's the most beautiful, truthful love song I've ever heard. The part "love your every change; love your every phase" is, what I think, the definition of love. In this song they are saying finally they found that comfortable, right, forever, work for it, love. And no matter what, he is going to love her and her him. Together, they will and can overcome anything and everything. It's deep and beautiful. It's exactly what I would want as my love story. I wish I had better words, it just seems too real and beautiful to describe. When you can hear this song and relate, he's a keeper. You don't just fall in love once. You fall in love with the same person over and over. You learn to love them. Through all of each others ups downs changes an phases. Your love runs deep, it is you. It is each other and what the two of you create together. The 2 of you together are all that you need to survive and get through anything. Life. It is telling us how to love. How to love for real and forever. Beautiful.
And my thought on the line "i love you twice a month since you had our first child" is that one of the many ways he is showing her his love is through taking care of her and their child financially. Two times every month he gets paid and he uses it to provide for his family, a small token of love. It a small part of the whole love story. He loved her without money and if it's ever gone again, they will continue to love each other. Their love is strong and deep. This just helps makes life run smoothly but does not define or determine if their love with make it. Of course it will. "When your love is strong, that's all you need"
There is my interpretation and thoughts on one of the greatest, strongest love songs. Hope you enjoyed. Now go get Stoopid. <3 |

Sadly & beautifully said. So truthful it hurts. But in a way that's right, justified, wanted. You said it beyond well, Beleafing. The way you broke it down was fantastic. Tragic. But tragic can be beautiful. Is beautiful. And it was for me. As was this real lovely song. Thank you. |
