This is me and my ex fiancés song. We were only 18 when he proposed. He was so in love with me and I him. I have a brother who is very overprotective. He hated the guy. My dad found out that I was engaged and beat me so bad I couldn't go to school the next day. I couldn't tell my fiancé that it was over because I didn't have the heart and I couldn't do it because I loved him too. I dropped out of highschool and took up online classes because my dad wasn't going to let me see him at all. He started showing up at my house everyday, and everyday my dad said I couldn't talk. He only took that answer for a few weeks before he started to get angry. He started throwing punches at my dad and even brought a knife. At this point I started to realize that I don't think hes mentally stable. One night when I was home alone he came in and told me that I was going to go with him. I got in his car thinking it would just be a nice little car ride and we could talk things out. Before I knew it we were in another state and that little car ride turned into him trying to kidnap me. I didn't get the police involved because I loved the guy. My dad forced me to get a restraining order on him and I did. He violated it many times and wouldn't leave me alone. It kept getting worse and worse so I had to move across the country to live with some family friends and not tell anyone where I was going. It broke my heart to think that id never see him again but it also felt good that he couldn't harass me anymore. On my way to iowa this was the first song I heard when I got in the car and he used to sing it all the time. |

The opening line "well your not sure that you love, but your not sure enough to let me go" means that he is unsure of his feelings. He probably does love her, not enough to stay but enough to not want her to be with anyone else. He dosnt want to hurt her or let her go because he cant walk out of her life for good, so instead he stands there watching her suffer while shes there wondering why he'd do this. Just my interpretation :) |

I think this song is meant for us girls to keep our heart protected so we don't get it broken time, after time, again and again. It teaches you that the person who controls the relationship is the one who cares less. If you care more your going to do whatever it takes so that the person your trying to keep will stay. |
