| I just to my wife about this being a perfect funeral song. In Christianity we speak about life beginning when we die. That the life of this world is not the most important. That when we die, that is when life begins. Eternal life. This song speaks to me in the sense. That while I was in this world I was young, innocent, naive, and made a lot of mistakes. I suffered and hurt. It is ironic when it says " wake me up when it's all over" because when we die we close our eyes, but if you believe in eternal life then when you die is when you finally are able to open your eyes and enjoy true happiness. This upbeat melody of this song also plays into the idea that when someone dies we should celebrate and not be sad. It's an act that is out of the norm, but when my uncle died, we celebrate and danced and celebrated his life in this world and his new life in heaven. This is what this song means to be | |
